About the Foundation
Loris Healthcare
System's mission has always been to provide
quality services that promote the
achievement and continuous improvement of
health, wellness and overall quality of life
of our communities. In 2006, Loris
Healthcare System established the
Loris/Seacoast Healthcare Foundation as a
way to provide philanthropic means which
will assist in the fulfillment of Loris
Healthcare System's mission, honor our
history and help ensure our future.
The newly appointed
foundation board of directors is made up of
area residents dedicated to meeting the
healthcare needs of our communities. Led by
Frank V. Boulineau, III, chairman, board
members include Dennis D. Jones, secretary,
Harry Thomas, vice chairman
, Ed W. Prince, III, vice chairman,
J. Timothy Browne, Amy P. Grainger, Rima S. Hulen, Alice M. Marlowe, Tracy Ray, OD, Hazel Teal, G. Rayford Vereen, and James F. Wright MD.

Growth of Loris Healthcare
System
-
1950 - Loris
Community Hospital, the cornerstone of Loris
Healthcare System, opens as a 23-bed hospital
-
1963 - Loris Extended Care Center opens offering 40 long
term care beds
-
1967
- A new 18,000 sq. ft. addition is added to Loris Community Hospital
adding 40 additional beds
-
1973 - A $183,000 renovation to the hospital results in a
new emergency department, lab and ICU
- 1975 - Construction begins on a $1 million expansion
which included a new entrance, offices and extensive
diagnostic equipment upgrades.

1976 - A new maternity wing opens
-
1979 - A $2.3 million expansion is announced which will
bring additional beds, a nursery, pharmacy and
physical therapy department
-
1987 - Groundbreaking for $10.5 renovation project is held.

1992 - Loris Extended Care Center expands to 88 beds with
cost of $3.4 million
-
1996 - Center for Health & Fitness opens
-
2000 - Larger than 100,000 sq. ft. Seacoast Medical Center opens bringing same day surgery, outpatient
diagnostic and 24-hour emergency medical services to the north strand
